Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev secured his first championship for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a difficult period, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in particular - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive victory over challenger Moutet.

It is the player's maiden championship since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court since spring of 2023.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has secured 21 victories at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, including in that event earlier this year.

His counter-punching strategy and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had led observers to question if his ability to perform at the highest level was concluded.

But the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, taking 4 of the final five games to take the lead.

The competitors swapped break points in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first professional title, gained dominance to force a decider.

Moutet saved 4 early-game chances in a close final set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he clinched the title with a rally at the net area, with Moutet incapable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
