Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Digital Device
It has been 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story movie was released, launching the animation giant as a major film company and introducing viewers to iconic characters like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a glimpse into the storyline but leaving fans wondering how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang
The preview reveals Bonnie — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a brand new toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser avoids is what the sheriff is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a carnival and helping prize toys locate loving owners.
Certainly, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?
Connections from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The final act Woody did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. The clip displays the insignia attached to her shirt.
Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the group.
